ballance 2006 brought together about 250 young people and volunteers from partner organisations in Poland, Italy, France, South Africa and Germany to celebrate the 'ballance finale 2006' cultural event on June 11 in Wiesbaden, focusing on fair play and stamping out racism in football towards a peaceful World Cup.
 
As a build-up to the event, everyone involved in ballance 2006 across Europe attended also the England v Paraguay game in Frankfurt the day before.
 
Many prominent soccer players, who were promoting ballance 2006 throughout the last 5 years were honored through the Hessian premier Roland Koch, the minister of the interior, Volker Bouffier, and the vice president of the German Football Association (DFB), Rolf Hocke. Among them the well-known German world cup winner and patron of the project Steffi Jones and Patrick Battiston the football legend from France.

3rd International Youngster and Multiplier Workshop in Bordeaux (25-31/07/2005)

From July 25th to 31st, 30 youngsters and multipliers from ballance partners in England, France, Italy and Poland participated in a workshop of ballance 2006 in Bordeaux.
 
The programme was prepared and directed by the secretary general of the Ligue de Football d'Aquitaine (LFA), Mr. Christian Chartier, and was co-financed by the LFA, the Commitée Regional and by the European Community. The Workshop took place in the 'Maison de la Promotion Sociale Artigues-près-Bordeaux'. Christian Chartier was assisted by Max Delpy and by Jean-Pierre Lafon (Vice président responsable des Jeunes du SJ Macao).
The main subject was about to prepare the «ballance 2006 final» which will take place on June 10th 2006 in Hesse/Germany. Each country group prepared its presentations and interactive methods to apply during the ballance final 2006. Besides that, field excursions were organised to the regions of Macao and Medoc and a very interesting meeting took place in the education centre of Girondins de Bordeaux where the group met Patrick Battiston, the former international player from France who is the patron of ballance 2006 Aquitaine. The youngsters had the opportunity to ask questions about tolerance and respect (see pdf-downloads).

Visit to nacro in Manchester

Jens-Uwe Münker (deputy executive officer of the Hessian football association) and Michael Glameyer (managing director of the IBZW) visited the English network partner nacro in Manchester. Central topic of the talks with the project leaders Sarah Kaler and Ian Hands was the youth meeting in Bordeaux in July this year. Furthermore a youth project for crime prevention was visited and experiences with the coordination of the cultural supporting programme of the womens European Championship 2005 was discussed with Kate Egford.
Afterwards, invited by Ros Potts (National Football Development Manager of the Football Association), the group was among the impressed spectators of the EC match Germany - Italy in Preston which ended with a 4:0 victory including a header goal of ballance patron Steffi Jones.

Internationales Fußballturnier „Orliki 2005” in Srem / Polen

Unter der Leitung des Verbandsreferenten für jugend-pädagogische Aufgaben Manfred Lotz sowie Betreuer Wolfgang Luh nahmen vom 03.-05.06.05 zwölf Jungfußballer des Jahrgangs 1993 aus Grünberg, Reiskirchen, Lehnheim und Allendorf am internationalen Fußballturnier „Orliki 2005” in Srem bei Posen in Polen teil.
 
Wie stets bei ballance-Projekten stand vor allem der Aspekt der Jugendbegegnung im Mittelpunkt. So funktionierte die Verständigung der Gleichaltrigen aus Hessen, Polen und Tschechien trotz der Sprachprobleme prima. Man übte gemeinsame Anfeuerungsrufe ein, ging aufeinander zu und kickte auch jenseits der offiziellen Turnierspiele miteinander. Das Erreichen des Halbfinales rundete das gute Gesamtbild der hessischen Delegation erfolgreich ab.
 
Regierungsdirektor Tomasz Wiktor der Partnerregion Wielkopolska und Monika Paluskiewicz, beide seit langem in der internationalen Multiplikatorengruppe von ballance 2006 vertreten, hatten das Turnier mit den Verantwortlichen vor Ort glänzend organisiert und so konnte sich die Teilnehmergruppe aus Hessen von der beeindruckenden polnischen Gastfreundschaft überzeugen. Ihnen wurde ein herzlicher Empfang und ein angenehmer Aufenthalt bereitet. Michael Glameyer überbrachte Grüße des HFV-Präsidenten Rolf Hocke sowie die Einladung zum Besuch des Eröffnungsspiels zum Confedertation-Cups. Hierzu werden der Präsident des Fußballverbandes, Stefan Antkowiak, der langjährige Trainer von Lech Posen Miroslaw Jankowski, Tomasz Wiktor sowie der Chefredakteur der großen Sportzeitung „Glos Wielkopolski”, Marek Lubawinski und der ehemalige Hockey-Nationaltrainer Mariusz Kubiak am 15.06.05 nach Frankfurt reisen. Auf dem Weg dorthin wird der IBZW-Geschäftsstelle von ballance 2006 ein Besuch abgestattet, bei dem u.a. die Planung gemeinsamer Aktivitäten rund um das ballance finale 2006 auf dem Plan steht.

Auf Einladung von HFV-Präsident Rolf Hocke besuchte die B-Jugendauswahl Aquitaine mit Christian Chartier (Generalsekretär der Ligue de Football d'Aquitaine) Nordhessen zu einer Jugendbegegnung mit 2 Spielen gegen die U16-Junioren der Eintracht Frankfurt (1:2) und eine Nordhessen-Auswahl (2:1).
 
Fachlich und sozialpädagogisch betreut wurde die Delegation von HFV-Jugendreferent Michael Schäfer. Michael Glameyer referierte zum Thema Deutsche Wiedervereinigung. Die Exkursionsziele in Nordhessen wurden von Jörg-Thomas Görl (Sportamt Schwalm-Eder) ausgewählt. U.a, wurden die Theo-Koch-Schule in Grünberg, das neue Waldstadion in Fankfurt, der Checkpoint Charly, die Vertical World sowie der Themenpark Kohle & Energie und das Ausbildungsrestaurant der Starthilfe Borken besucht. Ein weiterer Höhepunkt war ein Besuch der DFB-Zentrale - hier wurde die Delegation von Direktor Willi Hink begrüßt.
Zum Abschluss fand eine Jugendbegegnung im Vereinsheim des TSV Wabern statt, zu der HFV-Präsident Hocke eingeladen hatte. Mit dabei DFB-Stützpunkttrainer Platzeck.

2nd International Workshop ballance 2006: 29.11.-1.12.2004 in Grünberg

From november 29th to december 1st 2004, 9 delegates of partner organisations from France, Poland, Italy, England and Hesse participated in a workshop in Grünberg to plan further common activities within ballance 2006 (see programme). Mr. Rolf Hocke, vice-president of German Football Association (DFB) welcomed the international partners and expressed his proudness about this cooperation which will contain concrete action and several events in 2005 and 2006. Steffi Jones, patron of ballance 2006, World Cup Winner 2003 and olympic bronce medall winner 2004 also participated in the workshop.

border=0 Du 17 au 23 août 2004 a lieu un rencontre international de jeunes « ballance 2006 » à l’IBZW Witzenhausen avec 30 participants (10 de chaque pays) âgés de 15 à 20 ans et deux tuteurs adultes d’Allemagne, France et Angleterre, sponsorisé par l’Office Franco-allemand pour la jeunesse et ballance 2006. Il s’agit de développer des formes de communication pour célébrer la diversité comme quelque chose de positif et créer un espace ouvert, ou des thèmes comme le travail illégal des enfants (par exemple pour la production de vêtements sportifs, de football...), le dopage et l’apprentissage de l’histoire peuvent être traités et discutés.

Youth meeting Junior-Multipliers for Tolerance

From July 20th to 27th 2004 an international youth meeting took place in IBZW Witzenhausen. 21 youngsters in the age of 15 to 21 years and 6 tutors from Germany (IBZW), England (NACRO), Poland (Wielkopolska) and Italy (Istoreco) were staying one week together to plan further common activities with representatives of ballance 2006 and local hessian projects with regard to a peaceful world championship in Germany. The participants learned practical skills like: how to organise sport events for tolerance and how to be a teamer / tutor in soccer for tolerance and they prepared the final ballance event during the World Cup in July 2006.
This workshop was possible thanks the support of the programme YOUTH for Europe and ballance 2006.

workshops & events - international " Deux footballeurs se sont distingués cette saison, l'un pour son parcours sportif, l'autre pour son fair-play.
... Prévention de la violence. Le second gardien, Julien Cellier, est le gardien de but des 15 ans. Dans une équipe mal classée, il a beaucoup « galéré » cette saison, évitant par son brio de lourdes défaites. Il gardera, l'an prochain, les buts des 18 ans.
Le SJM est un club très en pointe dans la lutte contre la violence et Julien Cellier a été retenu par la ligue parmi dix jeunes Aquitains pour participer en août au programme Ballance 2006 en Allemagne. ..."

International Workshop ballance 2006 in the Sportschule Grünberg

From December 4th to 7th 2003, 13 delegates of partner organisations from France, Poland, Italy, Norway and England were invited to Grünberg for a workshop to plan further common activities with representatives of ballance 2006 and local Hessian projects with regard to a peaceful world championship in Germany (see list of participants). Mister Rolf Hocke, president of Hessian Football Association (HFV), welcomed the guests and expressed his joy for being able to contribute to a peaceful world championship together with international partners.

On the evening of the first day (December 4th) the participants were guests of the "Verleihung der Ehrenplakette des Landes Hessen" where they were personally welcomed by Minister Volker Bouffier and Prof. Zielinsky (both Hessian Ministry for Internal Affairs and Sports) as well as by Monika Staab, trainer of UEFA-Cup Winner 1.FFC Frankfurt and member of honour of board in ballance 2006.

On Friday, December 5th, the participant’s institutional background and working context was presented.
Friday evening the delegation was guest of the drawing of the World Championship qualification groups in "Frankfurter Festhalle".

Saturday December 6th, 2003: at the beginning of the planning phase the president of the Hessian Football Association Rolf Hocke and the embassador of tolerance Armin Kraaz were present. In his speech Mr. Hocke pointed out the importance of international partnerships in context of ballance 2006 and in view of a peaceful football world championship. In spring 2004 Mr.Hocke is expected to visit the Ligue Aquitaine Football (LFA) in Bordeaux with Mr.Glameyer.

Roadmap 2004
The joint working schedule (Agenda was agreed with the following details):
  • 20.-27.07.2004: Youthmeeting "ballance 2006" in IBZW with 28 (each 7) youngsters, in the age between 15 and 20 years (Poland 22 years old) and 2 tutors each from Germany, Poland, Italy and Norway (or England) sponsored by the German Agency Youth (about 50% of the travel costs might have to be covered by the partners)
  • 17.-23.08.2004: Youthmeeting "ballance 2006" in IBZW with 30 (each 10) youngsters in the age of 15 to 20 years and 2 tutors from Germany, France and England, sponsored by tha German-French Youth Organization (about 50% of the travel costs might have to be vcover by the partners)
  • 22.-25.11.2004: next meeting/workshop of the international planning group either in the "Sportschule Grünberg" or in one of the partner regions.

Youssou N'Dour et M. Michael Glameyer, directeur de ballance 2006 avaient un rendez-vous le 31. Juillet 2003 à Dakar. Leur sujet était la coopération vis à vis la lutte contre le racism, le violence et la xenophobie autour de la coup mondial 2006 en Allemagne. Mme Fatou Thioune SARR, administrateur général de la Fondation Youssuo N'Dour - youth network for development - sera charger avec la planification. En jeu il y a aussi Ibou Cissé, musicien de Youssou N'Dour, Wahid Kane (INSEPS Dakar) et Youssouf Cissé, directeur afrique de l'aide et action scolaire.


'security and tolerance 2006' event in the 'Old Arena in Poznan'

"Who is responsable for security in a stadium? a) the supporters b) the players or c) the police?" – that was one of the questions, that had been worked out by twenty pupils both girls and boys from Poznan for a quiz that was held on May 1st, 2003 within the event "security and tolerance 2006" in the "Old Arena in Poznan". The Event was organised by the Marshalloffice and Wielkopolska Football Association. There was also a football match within tolerance-rules and a speech on tolerance that has also been prepared and held by pupils. Mr. Miroslaw Jankowski, former coach from Lech Posen participated as well as Mr. Michal Globisz the coach of national junior team and Mr. Mariusz Kubiak (national hockey coach), who was participating the olympic games in Moscow in 1980. Hessia was represented by Mr. Jürgen Kerwer and Michael Glameyer (both ballance 2006).

International Tournament in Poznan

workshops & events - international On the 1st May 2003 from 1 pm to 3 pm during the International Tournament "Poznańskie" Koziołki a special event concerning tolerance and safety on sports stadiums will be held- within the framework of "ballance 2006".

Here is the preliminary program:

1 pm - speech on tollerance and safety on sports stadiums

1.15 pm - football match of the integration and friendship (2 x 15 min.)
The participants will be of a different skin color, sex and the level of disability.

2 pm - quiz on safety during sports events
Participants: sportsmen and publicity.

2.30 pm - ball-juggling tournament

You are warmly welcome to take part in this event. Due to the close date of the event, we're looking for your quick response.

Talks on joint activities in Bordeaux

The planning of joint activities in view of a peaceful world championship was the subject-matter of a visit of Michael Glameyer (ballance 2006) in Bordeaux on January 28/29.
Mr Christian Chartier, secretary general of the Football Association of Aquitaine (Ligue de Football d'Aquitaine) had arranged the visiting program. The main topic among planning of 'training of trainers' seminars and youth exchange events was the initiation of local projects.
Besides Mr. Laurent Vernaut of the regional olympic sports comittee, Gilles Eyquem (ex-pro of Girondons Bordeaux), Annie Bannier (Youth and Sports head office) and Oliver Schmidt (Délégation Régionale of Hesse/Germany) took part in the meetings.
An international conference with European partners from France, Poland, England and Italy is planned to be held in autumn this year.

Tomasz Wiktor, sport-director of Marshall-office organized the visit of Michael Glameyer, director of ballance 2006 – tolerance and integration for a peaceful World-Cup 2006 from November 20th to 22nd, 2002 in Poznan / Wielkopolska
Main point was a meeting in Wielkopolska Football Association office with vice-president of Polisch Football Association - Stefan Antkowiak, Sport & Tourism Department Director - Tomasz Wiktor and Sport Director of Wielkopolska Football Association – Mirosław Jankowski, sekretary of WZPN Mr. Zdzistow Tomczak, WZPN-trainer Mr. Ryszard Dorozaka and Mrs. Anna Zielinska from Marshall-Office. Later Mr. Andrzej Krasnicki, Member of Board of Polish Sport Confederation participated on the discussion.

15.08.02 - European Network Meeting

workshops & events - international Project managers and participants meet in Witzenhausen/Germany (documented by Sarah Bagel; streetfootballworld)

The European Network Community Football and Social Inclusion met from 11-15 August 2002 in Witzenhausen, a small town in Hesse, Germany to discuss and plan the further networking and to strengthen the relations between the partners. Parallel to the work of the project organisers, an international group of 60 youngsters, participating in community football projects, took part in trainings on intercultural learning, youth participation and conflict management.
